The most surprising thing I read here is that people were getting the rhythm method completely opposite until the 1930s. It's not that complicated! I guess it must have been a really taboo topic for official or unofficial experiments, or even post hoc data analysis? Sheesh!

Birth control is way better than no birth control. But the side effects of hormonal birth control that many people experience continue to themselves be rather taboo to talk about or study. Having tried HBC and hated the side effects myself, I quickly switched to the symptothermal fertility awareness method (like a much more precise rhythm method) detailed in the book Take Charge of Your Fertility. It works great for my situation, but wouldn't be the best fit for everyone, e.g. the lady married to the rapist. I'm glad there are so many fairly effective methods of birth control these days to choose from.
